Rollin with Owen
After the funeral service is over, rebuilding your life can be very difficult. As part of our Grief Support Service, over the past several years, Owen Funeral Home has planned many trips to a variety of locations. The friendship and fun experienced by our travelers is something that we wanted to share. These are a few of the photos from those trips.

2018 Churchill Downs
This is an exciting day of food, fun and racing on Millionaires Row. We enjoy a scrumptious buffet and invigorating day at the track. Whether folks bet the races or simply enjoy the fellowship, no one loses when joining us for a “Day at the Races.”
2018 General Butler state park
Sometimes it is good to have a Winter-Get-Away. That’s exactly what we did when we boarded buses and headed for three days of fun at General Butler State Park. While at the park, we ate lots of tasty food, Tie-dyed shirts, played Bingo and Chair Volley-ball, met Colonel Sanders – well not exactly but enjoyed a monologue about him, and listened to a Dulcimer concert. Not bad for just three days!
2017 Kentucky Made
Who knew there were so many fun things to do right here in Kentucky! We started our day by touring the Toyota Factory in Georgetown, KY and then enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Hall’s on the River; best known for its Beer Cheese. Then we headed over to the Ale-8 factory and learned the rich history of this company that has been bottling Ale-8 since 1926!
2017 Branson, MO
We pack a whole lot in when travelling to Branson, MO. Four Days! Four Shows – Clay Cooper’s Show, Texas Tenors, Presley’s Country Jubilee, Behind the Scenes Tour of the Sight & Sound Theater and Moses. When we are not at shows we are shopping or eating. Branson is always a lot of fun!
2016 Noah's Ark Encounter
We were impressed as we explored the life-sized reconstruction of Noah’s Ark. The Ark Encounter is one of a kind historically themed attraction, centered on a full size all wood Ark. As the largest timber framed structure in the US, the 510 foot long Ark was a sight to behold.
2016 Memphis, TN
In Memphis we experienced the good kind of “Blues.” We started our trip with a stop to Loretta Lynn’s Kitchen and then rolled down the road to the Heartbreak Hotel. We visited Beale Street and took a city tour of Memphis. On the tour we stopped in at Sun Studio where Elvis Prestley, Johhny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis launched their careers. Then we enjoyed walking through Graceland; viewing memorabilia and listening to the sounds of the "King of Rock." This tour transformed every woman back into a young love-strucked fan of Elvis!
2016 Western Caribbean Carnival Dream
There is no better place to be in February than on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. We bused to New Orleans and then set sail to the Western Caribbean. We visited Montego Bay, Jamaica, cruised over to the beautiful Grand Cayman Islands, and then onto Cozumel, Mexico’s gorgeous coral reefs.
2016 Churchill Downs
Churchill Downs is a fantastic way to spend a day. We watched exciting races from Millionaires Row while enjoying a scrumptious buffet.
2015 Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino Elizabeth, IN
The ride to Horseshoe Casino is lovely in the fall. We had fun in the casino and then made our way to a delicious buffet. Our Horseshoe Casino trips are always fun as we reconnect with each other after a busy summer.
2015 Amish Country - Montgomery, IN
Traveling to Montgomery, IN is like traveling back in time to a simpler day. Learning more of Amish life, while getting to shop and enjoy home-cooked food makes for a perfect day!
2015 San Antonio Fiesta Days
We hit the ground running on our Fiesta Days trip to San Antonio. We took a City Tour of New Orleans, visited the San Antonio Imax Theater, took a Tour and Boat Taxi on the San Antonio River, watched the Fiesta Days Parade, and toured the Alamo. On our way home we toured the Dallas JFK Museum & Memorial, and Arkansas Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.
