Community Programs
Stepping Stones
Where: Valley View Church
8911 Third Street Road – Valley Station
When: Thursday, September 17, 2009
11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Stepping Stones is an annual program sponsored by the Owen Family. If you like southern gospel quartet music, then get ready because Brian Free & Assurance is performing alongside Louisville’s own Fisher’s of Men with their old fashion gospel music “Georgian Style.” Both are sure to excite and inspire as they fill the air with great southern gospel music.
Prepare yo urself for an upbeat, moving day and don’t forget to bring your appetite because we also have a tasty buffet planned. If you plan to join us for lunch, a lunch ticket is required in order to provide adequate food for all. All lunch tickets are reserved and may be picked-up on August 31th, at an Owen Funeral Home location. After lunch, we will move up into the auditorium where there is plenty of room for all who wish to attend and listen to the upbeat, toe tapping music of Brian Free & Assurance and Fisher’s of Men.
This year we again ask that you join our funeral home in supporting “Bears on Patrol” by donating a Teddy Bear. “Bears on Patrol” is another way Kosair Charities serves children through local law enforcement agencies. Children receive a cuddly “Furry Friend” to hold, and hug from participating police, fire and rescue departments when faced with a traumatic situation.
Schedule:
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Lunch (Free Lunch Ticket Required)
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Brian Free & Assurance and Fisher’s of Men
Lunch reservations are required. Please pre-register before August 31, 2009 by mail or by calling Owen Funeral Home at 502-447-7759.
Help us support “Bears on Patrol.” Bring a Teddy Bear or donation.

Ladies Tea (see photos of previous teas)
The first annual Ladies Tea was held Thursday August 13, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the
Audubon Country Club, 3265 Robin Road with guest speaker, Holly Oyler of Holly Cosmetics.
A Ladies Tea is a delightful way for women to join together and discuss matters which pertain specifically to them. This year Holly Olyer, of Holly Cosmetics, was invited to address cosmetics and product safety. Holly discussed in her own energetic way, when to toss out what is in your make-bag, what to avoid doing with your cosmetics and how to make wiser choices in product lines. The day proved to be relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks to all who joined us.

Remembrance Service
The holiday season is often a difficult time for those who grieve
the death of a loved one. At Owen Funeral Home we hope to join with
our families in these difficult days by remembering and honoring
the lives of those we have served over the past year in the Owen
Remembrance Service.
In this service, the Owen family and staff join with families served
in honoring the life of their loved one by presenting an ornament
with their loved one's name. It is our sincere hope that this ornament
will bring warmth and comforting memories of their loved one throughout
the season.

Remembrance
Quilt
The Owen Remembrance Quilt is a hanging testimony that honors the
lives of many served by Owen Funeral Home. The quilt is displayed
as a reminder that as long as we live, our loved ones also live
as we remember them. Each quilt square is unique and represents
what is special to each family about their loved one. Much time
and thought go into these quilt pieces. We are truly honored, at
Owen Funeral Home, to have the privilege to display this work of
love.
The first Remembrance Quilt was dedicated May 31, 1998. Since then,
new quilts are pieced together as squares are turned in by interested
families. Quilt pieces are available to any family member who has
had a loved one served by Owen Funeral Home. Once contacted, we
will see that you receive a quilt piece along with information about
when the next quilt is scheduled to be pieced together. Upon completion
of each new quilt, a dedication service is held. Family members
and friends are invited to join in this dedication service along
with a reception that follows. Through-out the year we will rotate
the completed quilts in and out of the display case, so that all
quilts are viewed in the years to come.
If you are interested in receiving a quilt square, contact Genene
Nisbet at 447-7759. She would be pleased to talk with you. You can
also e-mail us at Owen Funeral
Home.
