Albert Benjamin Chandler

Albert Benjamin Chandler, 85, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 following a life of service to his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, family, fellow servicemen and officers, friends, Church, and country. He was a 30-year resident of Cape Coral, Florida and member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church; a 20-year resident of Waldorf, Maryland and member of St. Peter’s and Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Churches; and a child of Louisville, Kentucky and member of The Cathedral of the Assumption. Al was a student and athlete (track & field and cross country) at Flaget High School in Louisville. He joined the Unites States Marine Corps and served overseas during the Korean War. Al became a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. and retired following 20 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Al continued his service working as a security officer and athletic trainer at Mariner High School in Cape Coral. Throughout his life he served the Church and communities he lived in and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Albert is survived by his wife of 59-years Jeanette; sisters: Cecile, Patricia, Carolyn and Dorothy; brother James; brother-in-law Jim Wakeman; children: Stephanie, Judi, Joseph, Albert, and Gilbert; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Wakeman and brothers Robert and Stephen.
