Bobby J. Pence

Bobby J. Pence, 88, of Louisville KY, passed away, December 30th, 2021. He was born in Larue County KY, December 18th, 1933, to his parents James “Jim” and Cynthia Pence. He grew up in a large household as one of twelve children. Bobby proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and patrolled the Germany border. After his service he became a heavy equipment operator working for Blankenship and MAC Construction. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and regularly attended service. Bobby enjoyed the railroad and was especially fond of steam locomotives. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time in the kitchen. Bobby cherished every moment he shared with his wife of 67 years, Charlene, and his family. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ruth Hodges, Elizabeth Mills, Marie Cottrell, Mildred Gibbons, Donald Pence, Etta Wooden, William “Bill” Pence, Charles “Charlie” Pence, and Jean Tharp. Survived by his wife, Charlene Pence; children, Gregory Pence (Lisaa), Jeffery Pence (Hope), Beth Lee (Bruce); grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, Bradley, Justin, Rachel, and Cody; great-grandchildren, Summer, Wade, and Lane; siblings, Kenneth “Sonny” Pence, and Jane Cave; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation will be Monday, January 3rd, 2022, 1:00pm-8:00pm, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville KY, 40216. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4th, 10:30am, at the funeral home.
