Judith Bennett Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

BENNETT, Judith Carla Kaplan, passed away July 15, 2022 in Louisville, KY. Born on July 6, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Dr. Lionel and Marjorie Kaplan, she was raised to be outspoken and fiercely loyal. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Joshua Kaplan. When she turned 70 last week Judy joked that she survived the 60’s twice: She protested the Vietnam war while attending American University in Washington DC, attended the Monterey Pop Festival and hitchhiked to Woodstock. She loved dancing, laughing inappropriately too loud at restaurants, cussing, anything “glitt-ah”, and mouth kissing animals. She hated the color green unless it was on houseplants, for which she had a natural talent for. She believed a woman should have a full life before “settling down”, and boy, did she ever live a full life. 29 years ago she married the man of her dreams, and his daughters became hers. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother—maybe as much as she loved being a disco queen in New York City. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Bennett,Jr., daughters, Jennifer Bennett (Chris Turner), Elizabeth Bennett, Sondra Davis (Anthony) and Samantha Bennett, grandchildren, Alexis, Elliot, Makai, Garrett, Leia and Ashton, and 1 great granddaughter, Yari, mother-in-law, Martha Bennett, sister-in-law, Marie Wine (Dennis), brothers-in-law, Mark Bennett (Kathy) and Eric Bennett, and cousins she was raised closely to, Jonathan Schwartz(Virginia), David Schwartz (Regina), and Eric Schwartz (Fran), Andrew Meltzer, Steve Meltzer, and Cary Meltzer (Dory), along with many other loving family and friends. She tried with all her might, but she was unable to outlive Mitch McConnell but plans to haunt him are underway. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
