Joshua Scott Riggs

Josh was born February 11, 1986. Noted somewhere in medical records, it is documented that he had the largest head of any newborn in earth’s history. At two and a half, he told his pediatrician his mother said he had a bowling ball head. (It was most certainly not meant in the way he said it!) We all knew he’d eventually grow to meet the size of that noggin. Sure enough, he grew into our large, burly beast. A huge man with a heart a size that far surpassed his build. Josh is known for his compassionate, loving character. He hurt when others hurt, and he reveled in others’ joy. One of his greatest passions was helping others suffering from the disease of addiction. God placed people in Josh’s path that needed his wisdom, strength and encouragement. He spoke the truth with love and conviction. He gave everything he had to help others. Little did they know, by helping them, he was strengthened in return. Josh was a deep thinker that could talk (or debate) for hours about world issues, history, religion, Ky Wildcats, music, barbie dolls, toy tractors, and almost any topic that you had the knowledge to carry on with him. He loved to play games with his family and friends but showed absolutely no mercy—especially in Trivial Pursuit. No other could make you laugh like Josh did! The looks he’d give you, the sarcastic slap of his leg with the ridiculous laugh that mocked your not-so-funny joke, the head back with the phony snore after you told a long-winded story with really no point, the stifled giggle when he knew your “funny” upstaged his—Yeah…this was our Josh:) Josh’s love for his family was immeasurable. He truly cherished us beyond belief. He enjoyed just being with us hanging out, playing games, EATING, watching tv—just anything as long as he was with his family. He especially loved his Addi, Sawyer and Emery. They were the lights of his life and he was theirs. There was absolutely nothing he wouldn’t do for those babies! There’s one sweet soul that Josh hadn’t been able to share life with together, but it was his goal to be someone this young man could one day look up to. He strove for this so hard and Josh wanted him to know that he truly, truly loved him more than anything on this earth! Most importantly, Joshua LOVED the Lord. He knew the sovereignty of His mercy and Grace. As each day passed, Josh’s spirit grew softer and his heart became more like His. This is the peace that gives us the strength to cling to the moment we’re with him and our sweet Savior again. WE LOVE YOU JOSHUA SCOTT (and I love you more than bacon!) Joshua leaves behind his son Aedan Carrington Martin; mother, Laurie Warner and stepfather, Matt Warner; father, Scott Riggs (Kym); grandmothers, Ruth Hickox and Mildred Leerae Riggs; four brothers, Jacob Riggs (Brittany), Andrew Riggs, Gabriel Riggs (Kelsey), and Ethan Riggs; a sister, Taylor Hughes (Jordan); nieces, Addilyn and Emery Riggs, Laikyn, Kaydence; nephews, Sawyer Riggs, Leland; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends that he cherished.
