Carolyn Braughard Davis

Carolyn Braughard “Bee” Davis passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Jewish Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years of age. Carolyn was born July 21, 1938 in Louisville, KY as one of three children to the late Raymond Price Braughard and Gertrude Korfhage Braughard. Throughout her life, Carolyn was known for her kindness, generosity, compassion, and always making others feel welcome in her presence. Her warmth and sense of humor made her a light in every room she entered, and she would always drop anything if a friend or family member was in need. Most importantly, she loved deeply and was loved deeply. Carolyn grew up in Louisville, KY and graduated from Valley High School in 1956. Following graduation, she spent time living in Hawaii where she learned to hula dance. She would later use this talent as a finalist in the 1960 Miss Louisville Pageant. Upon her return to Louisville, Carolyn took a position as an administrator with the Federal Aviation Administration. During this time, she was not only an active member in the Jefferson County Public School District, but also within the Louisville community as well. Following her retirement from the FAA, Carolyn continued to have a very long and successful career in real estate. On February 24th, 1968, Carolyn married John E. “Sonny” Davis. Together, the pair has celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage and spent their lives in Louisville, raising their son David, including the further expansion of the family with his wife, Becky, and three loving granddaughters. Carolyn loved being involved in all aspects of her granddaughters’ lives, including attending sports events and extracurricular activities. She especially enjoyed their holiday traditions, from decorating to movie-watching marathons, playing cards, and baking Christmas cookies. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Braughard Koch, and her brother, Dr. Raymond Paul Braughard. She is survived by her husband, John E. Davis; her son, David Will (Becky); her three granddaughters, Caroline Will Miller (Wes), Laura and Maggie Will; and her beloved extended family of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2:00PM - 7:00PM on Thursday, November 17th at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18th at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Rd, at 12:30PM.
