Dolores Sue (Lott) Holton

Dolores Sue (Lott) Holton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully June 20, 2021. She was 78. Sue was born Nov. 2, 1942, in Dycusburg, a tiny town on the bank of the Cumberland River in Western Kentucky, to Richard Wayne and Mina Hazel Lott. She was the second born of five closely knit sisters. She graduated from Valley High School in 1960, where she met the love of her life, David, while signing his cast after he broke his leg during a Valley football game. They married March 11, 1961 and remained devoted and together until his passing in 2019. Sue was a devoted and loving mother who chose to postpone her career to raise her three children. She loved cooking wonderful meals for family and baking delicious cobblers. Her yard was always filled with colorful flowers and her home with warmth and love, beautifully decorated and inviting to friends and family. She and David also shared their home with their beloved dog Sugar. Sue received her Associates Degree from JCC. She retired from Doss High School as a Home School Coordinator where she impacted the lives of many disadvantaged youth. She had a big heart for those less fortunate. Sue held many talents but was especially gifted at painting. She enjoyed the many years of friendship and comradery with her painting partners at the Metro Arts Center. She was a member of Mosaic United Methodist Church, Riverside Farnsley Moremen Board, Friends of the Library, Farnsley Kaufman Board and SW Community Festival. She also served as the Kentucky School for the Blind PTA President. Sue was preceded in death by her husband David, parents Wayne and Mina Lott, and her sister Julie Hardesty. She is survived by her children David (Andrea), Amy Stewart (Mark) and Andrew (Holly), four grandchildren, Hunter, Brooks, Max and Suzannah, one great grandchild, Koa, sisters Carmen Miller (Charles), Rebecca Aldred (Bill), and Nancy Guida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Wed., June 23, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., and Thurs., June 24 at 10 a.m. at the Moremen Family Chapel at Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, 7410 Moorman Rd. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with burial to take place in St. Andrew Cemetery.
