Eileen O'Brien Weston

GOSHEN - Eileen Virginia O’Brien Weston, while surrounded and enveloped in infinite love from her children and grandchildren, went to heaven to forever collect seashells as an angel on the beach the afternoon of January 12th, 2024. Drifting into her eternal rest the day before her 88th birthday, Eileen, lovingly known as Mom, Nana, and Grandnana, was able to celebrate her first heavenly birthday with those who preceded her in death including her beloved husband, Gordon Frank “Mike” Weston, her grandsons Brien and Michael Weston, her brother and sister in law Robert (Bob) and Millie O’Brien, son in law Tom Kramer, and daughter in law Karen Weston. Born on January 13, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of Albert William “Mac” and Beatrice Allen O’Brien and daughter in law of Garmen Frank and Alice Flo Weston, Eileen lived her childhood and young adult years in PA and then settled in Louisville, KY with her husband to raise their beautiful family of four children. Eileen worked at Suburban Hospital as a switchboard operator for many years and then later retired from Target. The way Eileen lived naturally gifted valuable knowledge to all those around her. She taught us how to treat everyone you meet with graciousness and kindness. She always honored each individual by intentionally learning their name and then sharing her never-ending gratitude with them from that point forward. Her heart and spirit were tirelessly sweet, charming and caring - many through the years shared that she was the sweetest person they’d ever met. Always sincerely appreciative, she’d shed a joyful tear in thanks for any gift, token, card, or sentiment shared with her. A truly altruistic and selfless woman, she took a vested interest in everyone around her, always greeting you with her beautiful smile, a sparkle in her eye, and often reaching out to you with hands so soft, they could only belong to the most magical Grandnana there ever was. She bestowed to her grandchildren and great grandchildren some of life’s most important lessons such as the art of catching sand dollars with your toes, the intelligence of how to do the “Florida Shuffle” from the sand to the water to gently avoid stingrays, and how to be awe-inspired by a full moon anywhere, yet especially one over the ocean. Her children will treasure her infinite knowledge of tomato plants and her grandchildren will hold sacred the memory of her stunning “mermaid hair.” A forever learner, a generous spirit, a sharp mind, a beautiful matriarch who cherished her family deeply - Eileen is forever loved and survived by her children: Linda Weston (Andy) Tuttle, Leslie Weston (Bill) Peak, Mike (Kim) Weston, Bea Weston; her grandchildren Emily (Ben) Price, Elissa (Aaron) Withrow, Sarah (Mark) Raumaker, Billy (Suzanne) Peak, Natalie Peak, Julia (Adam) Barnett, Matt (Ellie) Weston, Justice Weston; and her 21 great grandchildren. We invite you to celebrate Eileen’s life with us at Owen’s Funeral Home 9318 Taylorsville Road Louisville, Kentucky, 40299 on Sunday, January 21st, for Memorial Visitation from 2-5, and her Memorial Service at 5 pm.
