Glenda Morelle Hardy

Glenda Morelle Lindsey Phelps Hardy, age 92, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Born January 15, 1934, in Horse Branch, Kentucky, Glenda was the daughter of Arthur and Morbrey Lindsey. Raised during the Great Depression as one of nine children, she developed a resilience, determination, and strength of character that would define her life. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Orville, Jay, and Ray Lindsey; her sisters, Bettye McGraw, Ann Brockman, Wilma Stinchfield, and Lou DeLucco; her husbands, Obadiah Phelps and Edward Hardy; her son, Terry Michael Phelps; her granddaughters, Rose Ann Keen and Melissa Darnell; and her great-grandson, James Michael Dean Keen. She is survived by her brother, Gene Lindsey; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Hartlage, whose devoted care allowed her to remain at home for the past twenty-six years; her stepdaughter, Cindy Hagan; her grandchildren, Stacy (Mike), Kelly (Eric), and Craig (Brooke); her great-grandchildren, Adam (Cara), Alyssa, Alex, Kayli, Riley, Sydnie, and Karsyn; her great-great-grandson, Aidan; as well as numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. Glenda was known for her love of family, her determination, and her unwavering belief in the people she loved. She enjoyed shopping, visiting with family, playing cards and Bingo, and maintaining lifelong relationships with her siblings and relatives. Glenda was a woman of faith and community. Earlier in life, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization that reflected her commitment to service, fellowship, and community. She was a longtime member of Rockford Lane Baptist Church and later worshipped at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Her legacy lives on not only through the generations of family she leaves behind, but also through the confidence, encouragement, perseverance, and love she instilled in them. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to family, her sense of dignity, and her belief that every person should strive to reach their fullest potential. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Entombment will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
