James White Jr

James White, Jr., teacher to thousands, tutor to many, and friend to all, transitioned to eternal life on January 30, 2022, at his home after a long illness. He was 74. He was educated in the Horry County (SC) School system and graduated from Finklea HS in 1970. James was a member of the ROTC while attending North Carolina Agriculture &Technical State College, Greensboro NC and received his BS in Agricultural Education. Upon graduation, he then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, Field Medical Attendant at Ireland Memorial Hospital, Ft. Knox Ky. Upon discharge from the military, James was recruited to teach science in Jefferson County Public Schools. He earned his Master’s degree in Teaching from the University of Louisville and taught for a total of 42 years. James Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, James & Hattie Lou White, and his sisters, Charvella Marie White & Annie P. White Teague, and brother Edward White. James is survived by his wife, Becky, and his step-children, Brianna & Myles (Angie) Thompson. He is also survived by siblings Thelma R. Stark (Loris,SC), Zack White (Belleville, NJ), Shirley M. Scott (Highpoint, NC), Deloris Jordan(Loris SC), Marjorie White (George) (Columbia SC), Lou B. Stewart (Greenville, SC), Arnetha White (Loris, SC), Walter White (Kathy) (Indianapolis, IN), Dr. Curtis White (Eartha) (Seneca SC), Patricia A. White,(Loris, SC), Andrew White (Tabor City, NC), Michael White (Renee) (Sanford, FL), Wanda J. White (Charleston, SC), and a host of nieces and nephews, who are loved & cherished. The family would like to extend a special thanks to dear family friends Adrianne Braggs, Dekerion Thompson, Erica Camp, Cheryl “Sissy” Humbert, and wonderful neighbors Tony & Angela Downes & Family, and Ken & Christy Bryant & Family for all their help, support, and loving care through the years. Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2022 from 1-7 PM and Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 10 AM - 1 PM with the funeral service at 1 PM at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40299. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central on February 24, 2022 at 2:30 PM. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus.
