William H. "Bill" Wallen

William "Bill" Wallen began his new life in Heaven Tuesday, March 2, 2021, with family and friends. Bill had so much fun celebrating their shared birthday January 12, 1949, with his twin (friend) Phil Partenheimer. Bill was born to Gladys and Harges Wallen in West Prestonsburg, Ky. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Doug Hyden and Jack Wallen. Remembering him in love: Betty, his wife of 52 years this June; his son Matthew (Cielina), named by Bill because it means Gift from God; his two perfect grandchildren Christian and Isabel; his beautiful sister Lois May (David); his two amazing nephews Frank May (Cheryl) and Doug Hyden (Sarah); his two great (in every way) nieces Amanda and Victoria and great nephew young Barrett. Bill graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1972 and began working in health care administration in Lexington with Excepticon. He moved to Louisville in 1976 and worked at Norton Hospital and private care nursing homes. From 1986-1993, he continued to live in Louisville but served as regional vice president for M. T. Health Care located in Memphis, TN., and traveled extensively in the East and Mid west. His favorite city was New Orleans. If you knew Bill, you know the reason - music and food. In 1993, he began working at Baptist Homes, Inc., in Louisville and retired as C.E.O. in December 2019- and soon began a year of Covid life. Bill always felt God had blessed him and called him to work with nursing homes. He served on the board of Baptist Towers and consulted with the board of (Baptist) Treyton Oaks Towers. He was a member since 1976 of Walnut Street Baptist Church, served as an ordained deacon and in other opportunities. He truly loved the Lord and had joy in his heart. He loved to travel and wanted to be first in line to receive the Covid vaccine. He had planned six trips for the rest of this year, but God had a different plan. Now, Bill would say a better one. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Burial to follow at Crosswater Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30am until 1:00pm. Masks and the always Covid guidelines are required.
