Anne Maddox Bishop Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Anne Maddox Bishop, aged 92, passed away on December 27, 2021. She was married to Norman Dallas Bishop for 53 years until his passing. Born Anne Catherine Maddox in Powderly, Kentucky. She was the oldest of four children to her parents, Lonnie and Mildred Maddox. Her father, Lonnie was a coal miner and her mother, Mildred a housewife. She helped raise and care for her siblings, liked school and was an avid reader her entire life. Anne attended Western Kentucky University for a year until finances prohibited her from continuing. She made her way to Louisville, Kentucky and took a job with South Central Bell in 1949 -- retiring after 40 years of service. During her time in Louisville, she had a blind date with soon to be husband, Norman Bishop. They got married and raised 3 children. The oldest; daughter, Donna Vernon (Norman), next, daughter, Lisa Robinson, and son, Kevin Bishop (Bill). She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bishop; parents Lonnie and Mildred Maddox; and siblings, Pat Davis, and Buddy Maddox. She is survived by her children; sister Carolyn Naiser (Larry); grandchildren, Jeff Vernon, Angie Vernon Clark (John), Marci Robinson (Susan) and Brent Robinson; two great-grandchildren; Jack Clark and Leah Clark. She also is survived by nieces, Beth Hummeldorf (Jim), Lori Mehlbauer (Mike), Laura Davis Myers (Billy); nephews, Keith Davis (Natalia), Nick Naiser (Patti), Michael Naiser (Amy), and Joe Naiser (Teresa). She is also survived by great nieces and nephews. Anne was an avid fan of Engelbert Humperdink for 40 years. She traveled often with friends to concerts all over the country. She leaves behind lots of loving friends she met while traveling. She loved her dachshunds and had them as pets for over 50 years. She also enjoyed gardening, wildlife watching and fishing. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Monday, January 3, 2022, at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00pm-5:00pm Sunday and continue Monday from 9:30am until time of service.
