Daniel "Dan" Roberts

February 10, 1937 - February 25, 2022

With Heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our Uncle Daniel Roberts. Dan passed away on the evening of February 25th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Dan was born February 10th, 1937, in Hyden, KY to Nora and Tom Roberts, he was the 8th child of nine siblings. Dan Loved to play checkers and challenged his nieces and nephews to play checkers every chance he could. We can still hear that laugh when he would win a game of checkers or him saying “King me!” One of his favorite game shows was The Price is Right! He would always say “come on down!” Just like the announcer would say. Dan touched the hearts of many, not only his family members who loved him dearly, also his caregivers at Green Meadows. In his final hours it is such a comfort to his family to hear staff members of Green Meadows (who had become his second family) share their memories and stories of him. The family would like to thank everyone at Green Meadows Healthcare and his nurse Janice from Hosparus Healthcare. Dan is survived by his brother Thomas G. Roberts, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Nora Roberts; brothers, John Foster, Crafter and Clayton Roberts; his sisters, Mahala Becknell, Mable Lewis, Fredia Rice and Mary Daley (who took care of him). A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m., Saturday March 5th, at Owen funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville KY, 40216. A visitation will be held prior to service from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
