Helen Sue Nevitt
June 11, 1932 - January 13, 2022
Helen Sue Nevitt passed away Thursday January 13,2022 surrounded by her family. Sue worked various jobs throughout her life, but nothing was as important as raising her seven children. She was involved in all our activities at St. Helen’s. People still talk about her coaching process and how loud she was at sporting events. Her second love was her church and her family and friends at Mary Queen of Peace (St. Helen’s). She headed up the 3 o’clock gossip group that met before 4 o’clock Saturday mass. She was the queen of the picnic fishpond and the cake NAZI at the fish fry’s. She was loved by all her grandchildren. They cherish mom and lived for the voicemails she would leave. Countless stories and countless laughs with family and friends. We all love and will miss mom. Watch Over Us! She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph O'Bryan Nevitt, Sr.; son, Terry Nevitt; parents, and four siblings. She is survived by her children, Joseph O'Bryan Nevitt, Jr. (Reva), Carolyn Russell (James), Donna Powell (Glenn), Joan Nevitt Goodin (John), Billy Nevitt (Kathy), and Barbara Pahler (Jim); daughter-in-law, Cindy Nevitt; sixteen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; and sister, Nina Jean Schorck. Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Mary Queen of Peace, 4005 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday January 17, 2022 from 1:00-8:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
