William Henry Lee Hawkins Jr.

William Henry Lee Hawkins Jr. (Bill a.k.a. Papaw) 80 , of Louisville, Kentucky, born in Garnettsville, Ky passed from this earth on Thursday August 12, 2021. Bill retired from Iron Workers Local No. 70 in 1997 as active Union Officer and committed mentor to many young Iron Workers. He lived his life with grit and determination challenging others for their best while providing an engaged and caring demeanor to those who meant the most to him. His love for his wife – Doie – never wavered and was deep for connection as the pandemic created hurdles for their closeness until his last months before passing. In addition to the deep love for his wife, his son, grandchildren and garden fulfilled his life with meaning. Preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Lee Hawkins (Weaver) and Mattie Rose Hawkins and brother, Dennis Lee Hawkins . Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dora Ann (Doie) ; son, William “Henry” Lee Hawkins III and ; two grandchildren, Emily Nicole Hawkins and William Noah Hawkins ; siblings Tommie Lee Hawkins (wife Deborah), Rosalie Scott (husband Billy), Samual Bo Hawkins (wife Pamela) , sister-in-law Pamela Hawkins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday August 19, 2021 10:00 a.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens, 4400 Memorial Gardens Drive (Dixie Highway), Louisville Kentucky will be Thursday at 11:00am.
