Charles Leason Bishop III

Charles Leason Bishop III, age 66, moved to Heaven on Monday, October 21, 2024. He passed quietly, but unexpectedly, near Somerset Kentucky at his home and the residence of his Family Home Provider and Caregivers. Charlie was a very social individual. He loved being around people, laughing and teasing. He was always ready to greet you with a smile and a hug…usually a great big exuberant hug. He hugged like he was never going to let you go. He rarely arrived anywhere without calling out “Hi” …again with great exuberance…before he fully crossed the threshold to enter the building. Charlie had certain things he always wanted in his possession such as photos, keys, cokes, money, and mementos of places he’d been or people he’d seen. The more he could carry in his pockets, the better. And babies, how he loved babies. Charlie was born in Louisville to parents Charles L Bishop Jr and Mattie Jane (Garner) Bishop. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother-in-law, Randall W Guest. Charlie is survived by his LaGrange Family: Denise (Bishop) Guest and AiJax (AJ) Guest. He is survived by his Somerset Family: Devin and Jazma Staley (Hunter, Ellis, and Dakotah), Cecil and Tammy Powers, and Corey Staley. Other survivors include his Maternal Aunt, JoAnn Young, and his Paternal Uncle, David Crouch, and so many cousins - extending to the fourth generation. Up until about the age of forty, Charlie enjoyed riding his bicycle around the campus or the neighborhood where he lived or visited. On home visits, he would ride throughout the day and return home to check-in when he heard his daddy whistle. And his bike could double as a getaway vehicle when Charlie was where he shouldn’t be, doing what he shouldn’t be doing. He recently took up bike riding again, but in the interim, Devin and his family introduced him to race cars, big trucks, and ATVs. A Celebration of Life is being held in Somerset Kentucky on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 2pm-4pm at Lake Cumberland Farmers Market, 401 E. Mt. Vernon St, Somerset Ky. Visitation will be held in Louisville on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 3pm-4 pm for family, and from 4pm-8 pm for the public at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville Ky. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway with burial following at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
