Charles "Clark" Rankin

Charles "Clark" Rankin,95, joined his Maker January 16, 2024. Clark was born on February 24,1928 to Carl M. and Luncinda V. Rankin in LaGrange KY. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty "Terri" Briggs Rankin and son, Greg. If you are a Rankin from LaGrange, you’re probably a relative! And wonderful neighborhood friends, some like family, truly we are blessed having such caring people in our life. In 1948 Clark joined the L&N Railroad, now CSX, and worked as a union employee for many years, progressing to supervisory positions. He retired 40 years later from the Signal Department. Clark connected with so many people from the very young to his fellow seniors, and some friends were 25 to 30 years younger. He had a personality that appealed to others, and they enjoyed his company. He always cared about others, asking about their activities, family, not talking about himself. This characteristic was even evident those past several weeks to his visitors. He wanted to minimize his situation and make them feel somewhat comfortable. Until lately, Clark enjoyed most all sports, he played golf twice a week before retirement, then, HAPPY DAYS, four days weekly, and once was fortunate to get a Hole in One! Along with golf, he managed to pursue his interest in Thoroughbred racing... Put his truck on auto and off to the track, where he was a Charter Member of Churchhill Downs' Daily Therapy Sessions with some of his buddies... BUT he didn't want conversation while studying the form. Clark was an avid UK Basketball and Football fan and enjoyed watching his Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Dodgers. What a guy! What a life! He had other interests, ...daily feeding the wild birds, and squirrels until they came looking through the patio door to be fed. Of course, there was our sweet Pico. Memorial Visitation Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00pm with Service 3:00pm followed by memory sharing celebration of Clark's life at Owen Funeral Home 9318 Taylorsville Rd. 40299. In Clark’s memory, treat yourself with friends to lunch, with beverage of choice, recalling the good times with Clark otherwise, Hosparus Health of Louisville or the KY Humane Society.
