Nancy Lee Martin

Nancy Lee Martin, 71, of Shepherdsville, KY Nancy loved to travel and she took the best journey of her lifetime on November 10, 2020 due to complications of the coronavirus. She is in good hands and we know that in Paradise her eyes now behold the most magnificent, beautiful garden that she has ever seen. She lived her life every day striving to be the best Christian she could be. Nancy loved the simple things in life. She was the least pretentious person you have ever met. She loved to play games, tend to her plants, make doll clothes for children, and spend time with her family and friends. She was an active member at Kenwood church of Christ where she joyfully and wholeheartedly served the precious souls there, young, old and all ages in between. Nancy is survived by her soul mate and husband, Howard W. Martin, of 53 years. From day one, she cherished the role of homemaker and respected her husband. She learned to make his favorite dishes. She loved to go on trips with him, even if it was just a countryside drive. Howard sings her praises and believes with all his heart that she was far more precious than jewels. His heart trusted in her and she did him good all the days of her life. Her three children consider themselves blessed to have been influenced by her all of their lives. Kim Davis (Mark), Rob Martin (Nikki) and Brad Martin (Miranda) learned from her wisdom, strength, teachings and kindness. They lovingly insisted on her homemade noodles at Thanksgiving and her bologna gravy on Christmas morning. Nancy’s walls are covered with every picture she has ever owned (or so it seems) of her six grandchildren, Nicole Grote, Eric (Lauren) Davis, Braden Martin, Nicholas Davis, Chase and Nash Martin. Her grandchildren brought unmatched joy to her heart. Nancy was raised by two loving parents, the late Robert Kenton Horseman and the late Ida Rose Wabnitz, who taught her to love God, to serve others and to enjoy life. Nancy is survived by two sisters, Beverly Knight (Clarence) and Pat Huffman, and two brothers, Ron Horseman (Kathy), Rick Horseman (Linda) who loved to laugh together. Her siblings often teased her about making them look bad because she loved to help her mother clean the house as a young girl. “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Nancy, beloved wife, beloved mother, beloved Nanny, and beloved friend - we praise you. Nancy’s funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with entombment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home.
