Shannon (Winders) Kenner

Shannon (Winders) Kenner, 66, was born on November 7, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky. She carried her sparkle with her wherever she went and left an unmistakable shine on everyone who knew her. Shannon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Kenner, and her parents, Lyman and Martha Winders. She is survived by her four children: Brooke (Neal) Kenner-Gleitz, Hayley Kenner, Morgan (Alex) Weinzapfel, and Boone (Joyce) Kenner. She is also survived by her three older brothers, Mark (Lagina) Winders, Christopher (Christine) Winders, and Timothy (Sherry) Winders, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was being “GiGi” to her six grandchildren: Aurora and Ayden Kenner, Phoenix Kenner-Gleitz, Delaney Fuller, and Lola and Rhyan Weinzapfel. Nothing lit her up more than attending their events, cheering from the sidelines, and proudly sharing their accomplishments. Shannon had a love for sequins, glitter, and anything that sparkled — a reflection of her own vibrant personality. She adored traveling, with Las Vegas holding a special place in her heart, second only to time spent at the beach. Whether she was planning her next trip, showing off her tan and hair tinsel, tending to her flowers (especially her beloved bromeliad in Florida), or playing casino games on her phone, she embraced life with enthusiasm and style. She cherished her time with her Widows Club in Indiana and remained deeply connected to her lifelong high school friends from Louisville. Her friendships were loyal, lasting, and full of laughter. At home, Shannon was famous for serving the best chocolate chip pancakes and for being her children’s biggest supporter — their forever fan club. She loved fiercely, celebrated loudly, and showed up fully for the people she cared about. Shannon’s sparkle lives on in her family and in every bit of glitter that catches the light. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. In honor of Shannon’s signature style and love for all things that shimmer, the family warmly invites those attending the visitation to wear sparkles, sequins, or a touch of glitter — just as she would have wanted.
